The Milan loft home of Tommaso Spinzi of Spinzi Design, a Milan and Melbourne based interior design firm, is inspirational. The space is an open stage, housing a selection of art and furniture pieces from Italian and international artists and designers. It showcases an eclectic array of beautiful objects that are enclosed within a warm interior outfitted with marble, brass and highlighted greens. I think it takes one of everything from contemporary to design classics from the 70s and 80s, showing the designer’s keen eye for beautiful objects and his ability to pair them despite their seeming disparity. 20+ years ago In Design International Studio clients built their family home and they knew it was time to update.Aside the dated appearance of the home, key drivers for the renovation were centred around practicalities and how the family had grown. The guest room had become a study/ tuition room and the TV room was now more a gaming room and hang out for the 2 boys. The designer started at the front door and meticulously worked their way through the entire property mindful of assessing family heirlooms, sentimental possessions, and practical keepsakes to retain as part of the marvellous makeover. The pièce de résistance, (as many parents will appreciate) was the opportunity to finally upgrade their own master bedroom, walk in robe and ensuite. “once you step off the hallway…it’s like stepping into a 5 star hotel!” Rich navy blue faux shagreen (shark skin) wallpaper and stunning pendant lights over…
The interiors of this mid-1960s building have been transformed by Stukel Architecture Studio into a sensual place of residence where one can live amongst their private art collection, luxury home meets gallery – Exhibit House. This design has restored the existing fabric of the original mid-1960s architect’s design, removing any subsequent renovations and introduced an innovative contemporary intervention. The interior design has borrowed elements more readily found in small commercial galleries, as the home is often used for hosting small cultural gatherings. The strong central axis of the main spaces has been enhanced with symmetrically arranged track lighting, brass surfaces, steel framed glazed partitions and deep wall reveals, creating what feels like a semi-public spaces, the classic gallery enfilade. This rigid composition is counterpointed by the rich and eclectic art pieces and furniture arranged throughout the home.( Published with Bowerbird). With a panoramic view to Tejo river, TM apartment, designed by Arthur Casas Studio, is on the penthouse of a retrofit building in the heart of Lisbon. The project’s layout reflects the wishes of clients for cozy spaces to receive friends, but also to respect their privacy. Once you enter the apartment, the Portuguese tiles panel in the dining room announces the blue protagonist, a striking color in the project – also present in the Delfino armchairs and Carolina Semiatzh’s painting. Also central in this environment, the Amorfa dining table designed by Arthur Casas, is inspired by organic forms of nature and escapes from the conventional pattern, with a dynamic design to bring its users closer. Finally, the convex mirror, by studio Básico, amplifies and visually integrates the social areas. The project also features neutral tones and wood finishings – present on the floor, woodwork, furniture and decoration – to…
David Cafiero helped to redesign this New York city house paying homage to the owners’ half Swedish heritage with the furnishings and the delicate pottery. He also immediately understood the notion of bigger and bolder and quieter and designed some of the larger pieces in the house—most notably a spectacular linen master bed—to help ground the spaces. Everything in this this, full of art house, is warmth and wood!!!!Enjoy it!!!!! Initially, Aiya Design Studio customers bought an apartment of 178 sq.m., but later decided that more space was needed for an active and expanding family, and bought a neighboring apartment. The studio’s task was to combine the areas of two apartments and develop a planning solution with division into functional zones. Their customers, a young couple, work hard, travel, play active sports, and all tasks related to interior design and implementation were entrusted to the studio. An obligatory wish was to create a private area for parents, in a sense, an “apartment in an apartment” with a master bedroom, a dressing room, a bathroom, as well as a small living room and a gym – the owner of the apartment is professionally engaged in cycling. By the way, on the walls there will be photographs of several of the already conquered tracks, photographs by Michael Blann . The centre of a gently curving crescent in Notting Hill is the setting of this incredible house designed by Stuart Robertson of architects 23 + GS / 318, with interior furnishing and lighting consultancy by Fran Hickman Design. An exquisite example of period renovation, the house on Horbury Crescent extends to over 4,000 sq ft and combines dramatic, light-filled spaces with elegant materials and examples of outstanding craftsmanship throughout. One of the house’s finest attributes is an oak staircase that spirals through the five principal stories and is lit from above by a glazed ellipse at its apex. The curving joinery is seamless and is met beautifully by the rough white render of its outer shell and the subtle brass inlays of its recessed lighting. This exemplary four-bedroom townhouse with a large private garden is found on Thornhill Road in Islington. It forms part of an elegant terrace built in 1828 and looks onto the manicured gardens of Barnsbury Square. The interiors have been immaculately restored by Powell Tuck Associates using colour, natural materials, and subtle contemporary interventions with exceptional care to create a series of serene spaces that chime with gardens designed by Stuart Craine. Each of the five storeys employs a slightly different colour palette, here grey and forest green accents resonate with the lush garden views. The main idea of the project of this very small one-bedroom apartment in Stockholm, was to experiment with bright colors. All sorts of delicate pastel shades in the decor are perfectly combined with painted concrete surfaces and a beautifully saturated kitchen.
