With a free and securely protected southern location you are welcomed to this home by Alvhem which offers a view that impresses, a fabulous light and fine turn of the century details. Egue y seta studio consists of a team ” with a sharp eye and big ears!” Architects and engineers along with graphic, industrial and of course, interior designers, they all design mainly with their ears. At EGUE Y SETA they approach every project with the certainty that clients do know what they need, like and consider aesthetically pleasing. Here, at the following project, the clients wanted to concentrate all comfort features and special amenities of their new home within a generously sized – double height, mixed use area to be devoted to entertainment, relaxation, play, reading, painting, music, guitar playing and guests hosting. Let’s climb the stairs and take a look in to this redefined super-attic: a former storage room turned into family-hub. The new heart and center of the home relocated at new (greater) heights! An elegant apartment in the heart of Turin by Officina8a, overlooking one of its most significant squares. The plan exploited only 2/3 of the available potential: a systematic and surgical operation of nakedness brought to light fantastic ceilings with a height of 4,60 mt. The frescoes, previously suffocated by the false ceiling, have been brought back to light. The warmth of the wood and the chromatic explosion of the ceilings are contrasted by the green Alps of marble that covers the custom-designed furnishings, for example in the kitchen counter. The project in its entirety is rather to be understood as an amusing game in which the building site has been the result of a continuous evolution, in which the architect finds the confused traces of the past and re-educates them to today’s needs. Officina8a is an architectural studio focused on design, sustainability, restoration, enhancement, interior design, photography, procedures, and enterprise. They are involved…

Nicky Dobree’s chalet in Switzerland sparked our imagination; whether you live in a snowy alpine resort or in the centre of a city, the chalet look is always hot. The designer’s look here is cosy and classic and breaks the mould of a traditional lodge; her style crosses townhouse elegance with winter chic.  British, award-winning designer Nicky Dobree specialises in luxury ski chalets, villas, and contemporary residential interiors. Concerning this particular project, Nicky says :”I drew much of my inspiration from these life enhancing views – the shimmering lake, the dense green woodland, and the snow-capped mountains beyond. Enlisting an army of talented German craftsmen we sourced the finest quality natural materials – timber, stone, leather, copper and glass to design a chalet with a twist. Clever lighting and inventive techniques brought all these raw materials to life. On the exterior I softened the brutality by cladding parts in timber and using the traditional sgaffito…

Large and engineering-challenging design project of timber-extension to the country house for family with two small children. The interior design of an extension from a bar to an existing country house for a family with two young children is a large and complex project from an engineering point of view. The designers’ task was to create a modern interior of new premises and organically combine them with the space of the house. Their team joined the work on the interiors at the stage of development by the architects and engineers of the extension project, so they managed to make some important changes and additions: organize the arrangement of windows and increase their height, raise the roof in the office area and design the mezzanine library. However, it was still not possible to avoid the long corridor, the extension itself in plan has an elongated shape. A wonderful renovation by Aiya Design.

A bourgeois lifestyle through public and private floor plan distribution with numerous tasteful artistically executed details in this Berlin apartment by Fantastic Frank. There are also many refurbished original details such as stucco, radiators with decorations or sliding doors with original lead glass inlays. This fantastic old-style apartment from 1912, located on the 4th floor, shows all the insignia of the then, grand luxury apartments. A long, wide corridor opens up this apartment. A second door divides this area into a public and a private part. This structure results from the second staircase to the apartment, formerly the servant and supplier entrance, which can still be used today.

Located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Range, this renovation converted a turn of the century working barn into a three-bedroom retreat from the city. The building was restored by mwworks with the intention of creating a comfortable home while retaining much of its original form, character and history. Siding, paneling, flooring, even fixtures and doors were sourced from either the original building or salvage yards. A panel wall of apple crates and a large custom light fixture over the dining table were fabricated from materials found in the fields around the barn. New interventions were carefully considered to have a modern aesthetic while at the same time working within this raw palette. A blend of preservation and intervention, this project updates an aging barn without losing sight of its history. mwworks llc is a Seattle based design studio offering architectural and interior design services formed in 2007, by…

The studio’s well-traveled clients were soon-to-be empty nesters when they approached Regan Baker Design studio for help reimagining their Presidio Heights home. The expansive Spanish-Revival residence originally constructed in 1908 had been substantially renovated to be a bright, relaxed reflection of the family’s time together, revising the function and layout of the ground-floor rooms and filling them with casual, comfortable furnishings and artifacts collected abroad. In the living room, lounge-worthy upholstery grounds the space, encouraging a relaxed and effortless West Coast vibe. Exposed wood beams recall the original Spanish-influence, but feel updated and fresh in a light wood stain. Throughout the entry and main floor, found artifacts punctate the softer textures—ceramics from New Mexico, religious sculpture from Asia, and a quirky wall-mounted phone that belonged to client’s grandmother.
