Justin Van Breda decided to turn an upside down suburban house into an Edwardian style villa, taking full advantage of the wonderful view out to sea and the spaces created by the gardens surrounding the house. Adding lines of tall french doors and shutters with mouldings instantly transformed the outside of the house and gabe an elegance to the inside when paired with the reclaimed strip wood floor.

Plain off white linen loose covered upholstery to Justin Van Breda‘s custom design and the entire house painted in a tone of blue- grey, with one tone deeper for millwork, created this muted and washed out background for a number of family pieces that came from the Edwardian and Victorian colonial periods.

Special note should be made of the Rhodes gallery of black and white family pictures in the hall, in simple black reeded frames with large off white mounts, hung in a series of blocks to create the effect of panelled installations.  In the kitchen, hung with a large South African oil landscape, and an Edwardian Bumese teak sideboard gave gravitas to this completely reinvented house.
