The Loft residence is situated on the 6th floor within the Rowe Building along Dearborn in the unique, architecturally significant Historical Landmark neighborhood of Printing House Row. Built in 1891 with an original 8 stories, this building was initially the home to a printing equipment shop for the Printer’s Row neighborhood. Scrafano Architects have transformed this generously scaled, single floor loft unit into a family home that has become a woven mix of intimate tucked away moments that exist among the expansive open areas typical to a loft. One of the main focal points that was an important feature to include within this scope was the sunroom. As there was not a true outdoor space available to the unit, they wanted to achieve the feel of bringing the outdoors in. To do so they created an atrium area filled with foliage, inlayed between a wall of exterior windows and a wall…

Adaptation of the interior of a 19th-century tenement house in the heart of Berlin’s Charlottenburg district by TAKK Studio Berlin. Charlottenburg only became a district of Berlin in 1920. The apartment, which has been subjected to numerous “improvements” over the years, has lost its original character: suspended ceilings concealing stucco walls, partition walls, numerous layers of wallpaper, temporary repairs and solutions in the kitchen and bathroom left the apartment in a poor condition.Agi Kuczyńska, an interior architect and designer, immediately noticed its potential and charm. Together with the new owners, she decided to restore the interior to its original splendor, by recreating a sense of space and stylish character paired with modern accents to give it a more contemporary look. The aim of a thorough renovation was to restore all the preserved architectural details decorating the interior. Unfortunately, during the renovation works, it was not possible to save the old…

Located in the heart of the Beaumaris precinct, Beaumaris House was a new build with an ode to Mid-Century architecture and design by Austin Design Associates. Featured in July 2019 issue of Home Beautiful magazine, Beaumaris House is layered with rich timber textures, from the floorboards to the natural American Oak cabinetry. Complimented with dark elements, all walls and furniture pieces were carefully considered to create this classic Mid-Century Modern palette. Every wall and corner was carefully considered within this project, giving the result of a carefully curated mix of warmth, texture and practicality. With picture window views to the garden from the freestanding bath in the ensuite, there is a great presence of Zen within in this home. Among the mile-wide rolling cornfields on Österlen is Eva and Kristian’s four-lane farm. Creating a cozy and relaxed place to be able to gather the whole family was one of the goals of the renovation – which required both genuine understanding and a large dose of feeling for everything to be right. It looks stylish and almost modern, without in any way sticking out or making a fuss of itself. Rather, it blends in perfectly, but the farm was also built in the middle of the 19th century.
