With three children under the age of 5, this family were starting to feel the confines of their Pacific Heights home when the expansive 1902 Italianate across the street went on the market. After learning the home had been recently remodeled, they jumped at the chance to purchase a move-in ready property. The Regan Baker Design studio worked with them to infuse the already refined, elegant living areas with subtle edginess and handcrafted details, and also helped them reimagine unused space to delight their little ones. Throughout the main floor, handcrafted, textured notes are everywhere—a nubby jute rug underlies inviting sofas in the family room and a half-moon mirror in the living room mixes geometric lines with flax-colored fringe. On the home’s lower level, the designers repurposed an unused wine cellar into a well-stocked craft room, with a custom chalkboard, art-display area, and thoughtful storage. In the adjoining space, they…
Without color splashes and bright decor – the design of this monochrome Swedish apartment by Alvhem is based exclusively on shades of white and gray, only light wooden elements add easy warm touches. For some, such a space may seem boring and faceless, but there are also many people who find peace and tranquility in such a scheme. The layout of the apartment is quite open: the kitchen is combined with a living and a dining areas, the bedrooms also have a lot of space and light. Fully renovated, of 89 well-disposed square meters. Two large rooms , working tiled stove, south balcony and elevator. Stucco, roof rosettes, paired doors and generous ceiling height. The classic Swedish base with stucco moldings and an old stove is, as always, gorgeous! Photography : Anders Bergstedt

Carola Vannini is the architect behind this wonderful apartment in the center of Rome. Her firm develops housing and commercial space designs that bring together different cultures, backgrounds and historical eras. The first criterion that guided this project was to open the space to the exterior and natural lighting. The ancient building structure has been emphasized by restoring the precious wooden ceilings. A sage green with very light touches of gold and silver have been selected to enlighten the decors. In the living room the double height of the space has been brought back to life and a cozy office space has taken place underneath the restored wooden beams. The master bedroom shares the ceiling with the master bathroom, from which is separated by a wall that doesn’t reach the ceiling and is framed by an iron and glass structure. This allows the view of the ceiling to be continuous and the light to freely…

Studio Morgan was born in 2017 from the hand of Laura Montero and Marina Reyero, architects, who have specialized in the design of residential places and the rehabilitation of historic building. This apartment, located in a magnificent historic building downtown, was given a trendy look, while the unique atmosphere and the scope of the architecture are perfectly preserved in the updated home. Stucco moldings and wall decor amaze with their artistry, high door and window openings add even more nobility to the interiors. It is interesting that the furniture and decor here are mostly modern. Therefore , the architects managed to highlight the architectural richness of this property with contemporary design elements. Enjoy it!!!!! Photographer: Montse Garriga Stylist: Beatriz Aparicio
Here is a unique opportunity to dive into the beginning of last century by having a look at this well-equipped parade floor of approx. 335 sqm divided into 8 rooms and kitchens, of which five rooms are in file with fantastic views of the Nobel Park. The house offers consistently incredibly beautiful and very well-preserved original attributes such as chest panels and housings, large, sprayed windows in deep niches, ceiling decorations, two functioning fireplaces, and a very generous serving aisle with all site-built original cabinets preserved. Impressive ceiling height of about 3.20m. The floor is located high up in this very well maintained property in 1914 with stable association. The house is on the market by Wrede, one of Sweden’s leading brokerage firms in the premium segment. The homes they convey vary in size and price, but they always offer something out of the ordinary. The design objective for the project was to create a modern environment that draws from the character of the surrounding neighborhoods. The building is sophisticated and vertical, with details that are tactile and at a scale that is very personal. One of the main design goals behind Penthouse A was to keep the space feeling light but with rich and natural materials. The finishes throughout were created keeping this in mind. The stone was honed, the tiles hand-glazed, the cabinetry and floor finishes were customized and crafted specifically for One Vandam . The triplex staircase creates a spectacular centerpiece for the Penthouse, taking advantage of the triple-height space and creating a dramatic effect. The materials throughout the apartment are natural woods and stones that are used in a modern way. The kitchen, for example, is a bleached walnut, which allows for the beautiful character of the wood to read through,…
This 4-room apartment is located on the 1st floor of an old building from the turn of the century in Berlin and it is on the market by Fantastic Frank. The renovation of the building was carried out in 2011-2013, whereby the entire building technology now meets the latest standards. The four rooms have the typical proportions of old buildings; high ceilings, beautifully dimensioned floor areas, large high windows and doors. The entire apartment is characterized by a unique interior design. Modern built-in fittings such as wardrobes or bookshelves document the claim to combine modern and old. This respectful handling is evident in the preservation of everything historical: ceiling stucco of a special kind, plank floors and rod parquet in fish-bone form, double and single-leaf solid wood doors with cassette-like ornamentation with original door frames, old door handles etc. The most striking are though the chosen colors. White runs through all rooms…
Connecticut-based architecture and interiors firm Hendricks Churchill has recently been named an 2019 ICAA Stanford White Award Laureate for “Residential Architecture – New Construction Over 5,000 SF” for its Oblong Valley Greek Revival project. Completed fall 2019 in Sharon, CT, the home was commissioned by a family who first employed the firm to design two ancillary structures on the property, which ultimately inspired the final home – and focal point of the property. Led by principal and co-founder Rafe Churchill, the architectural design maintains an accurate respect for an adherence to Greek Revival tradition. Hendricks Churchill represents the powerful alliance of Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill. This is fundamentally a collaborative enterprise: between architecture and interior design, between the principals and their skilled teams, between the firm and its clients. Every project undertaken is a journey of transformation defined by a shared desire to create spaces imbued with beauty, comfort…
Beguiled by the Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé furniture of the ‘50s and ‘60s, this project has made it possible to combine this fascination with the typical rural Catalan architecture of l’Empordà. Several large openings in the form of windows have been made in this old farmhouse to establish a greater interaction between the exterior and the interior, the former plays an essential role in understanding this project. So we’re dreaming of Spain today thanks to this stunning stone farmhouse, simply titled ‘House in Empordà’. With a rustic appearance hiding design gems inside, this is somewhere you’d want to spend a summer away tucked away in this historic corner of Catalonia. Lazy afternoons in the sun, twilight dips in the pool and of course a glass of Spanish red to finish up the day… It is the second project I present by the local studio Francesc Rifé who have renovated the…
