Large and engineering-challenging design project of timber-extension to the country house for family with two small children. The interior design of an extension from a bar to an existing country house for a family with two young children is a large and complex project from an engineering point of view. The designers’ task was to create a modern interior of new premises and organically combine them with the space of the house. Their team joined the work on the interiors at the stage of development by the architects and engineers of the extension project, so they managed to make some important changes and additions: organize the arrangement of windows and increase their height, raise the roof in the office area and design the mezzanine library. However, it was still not possible to avoid the long corridor, the extension itself in plan has an elongated shape. A wonderful renovation by Aiya Design.

A bourgeois lifestyle through public and private floor plan distribution with numerous tasteful artistically executed details in this Berlin apartment by Fantastic Frank. There are also many refurbished original details such as stucco, radiators with decorations or sliding doors with original lead glass inlays. This fantastic old-style apartment from 1912, located on the 4th floor, shows all the insignia of the then, grand luxury apartments. A long, wide corridor opens up this apartment. A second door divides this area into a public and a private part. This structure results from the second staircase to the apartment, formerly the servant and supplier entrance, which can still be used today.

Their philosophy is to create unique, intimate and sophisticated interiors that will feel like home. Their approach in this Parisian home can be called very bold, even extravagant but unexpected and challenging at the same time since it hides a deep color contrast, unusual objects and provocative paintings by contemporary artists. Nataša and Ingrid are twins. Their roots are in Croatia, where they grew up in a family of artists. They reflect this heritage in their everyday lives, which is best seen through their creativity and sense for the art and aesthetics. Playful like the little girls from years ago, both sisters recently felt the urge to shape their environments, as well as an interest and need to create something together, thus materializing their hidden early aspirations. They found the locations. The first guest house , presented here, is at the island of Lošinj, in a little town of Sveti Jakov (St. James). Stone houses, green terraces, stonewalls, olive plants and pastures, mark a return to the nature and to the iconic human aspiration to live in harmony with the Earth. Here, Nataša and Ingrid have meticulously built a destination for their guests and travellers. With a view to safeguard the…

Located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Range, this renovation converted a turn of the century working barn into a three-bedroom retreat from the city. The building was restored by mwworks with the intention of creating a comfortable home while retaining much of its original form, character and history. Siding, paneling, flooring, even fixtures and doors were sourced from either the original building or salvage yards. A panel wall of apple crates and a large custom light fixture over the dining table were fabricated from materials found in the fields around the barn. New interventions were carefully considered to have a modern aesthetic while at the same time working within this raw palette. A blend of preservation and intervention, this project updates an aging barn without losing sight of its history. mwworks llc is a Seattle based design studio offering architectural and interior design services formed in 2007, by…
The studio’s well-traveled clients were soon-to-be empty nesters when they approached Regan Baker Design studio for help reimagining their Presidio Heights home. The expansive Spanish-Revival residence originally constructed in 1908 had been substantially renovated to be a bright, relaxed reflection of the family’s time together, revising the function and layout of the ground-floor rooms and filling them with casual, comfortable furnishings and artifacts collected abroad. In the living room, lounge-worthy upholstery grounds the space, encouraging a relaxed and effortless West Coast vibe. Exposed wood beams recall the original Spanish-influence, but feel updated and fresh in a light wood stain. Throughout the entry and main floor, found artifacts punctate the softer textures—ceramics from New Mexico, religious sculpture from Asia, and a quirky wall-mounted phone that belonged to client’s grandmother. There are spaces which are full of life and a good atmosphere. It is precisely such type of home that we want to share today: this Goteborg apartment by Alvhem pleases the eye with its color scheme and attracts with simple homey decor. The combination of blue and yellow in the decor and textiles naturally provokes thoughts of warm summer days, while bright paintings and posters fill the interiors with life. We would like to note an interesting white structure against the wall in the living room – it can serve as an additional place for sitting, as well as a stand for decor and plants. What a charming home!
