This modern farmhouse located outside of Spokane, Washington, by Uptic Studios, creates a prominent focal point among the landscape of rolling plains. The composition of the home is dominated by three steep gable rooflines linked together by a central spine. This unique design evokes a sense of expansion and contraction from one space to the next. Vertical cedar siding, poured concrete, and zinc gray metal elements clad the modern farmhouse, which, combined with a shop that has the aesthetic of a weathered barn, creates a sense of modernity that remains rooted to the surrounding environment.

Large expanses of glass by Glo windows cover the home’s southern face and capture stunning views of the rolling hills in the distance. 12’ tall trapezoidal window configurations on the second level cap the center gable end above lofty French doors creating a deep sense of connection and transparency between the interior of the modern farmhouse and the natural beauty of the surrounding 30-acre property. Featuring a pool, home theater, and sports field, the modern farmhouse is a true sanctuary from the fast-paced life of the city.
