It is a brand new architectural modern home with beautiful natural light and modern finishes. The young family wanted a modern, serene and peaceful atmosphere with pops of color and a soft paint palette mixed with dynamic wallpapered accent walls. The designer, Margo Nathanson, mixed materials like marble, lacquer, metal, brass and resin to reflect a contemporary and sophisticated but playful aesthetic. She also chose some iconic furniture pieces like the dining chairs designed by Patricia Urquiola, and the Bauhaus style Utrecht lounge chairs, originally designed in 1935 by Gerrit Rietveld. She kept the upholstery kid friendly because it was important to the family that it was functional. The lighting fixtures are all carefully chosen, like the dining room light, meant to “float” above the table to keep the room light and provide a more sculptural than functional role.
The design reflects the family’s personality and ultimately provides an ideal place to raise kids-fun and playful, but also peaceful modern and chic.
