Located on the edge of Hampstead Heath and loved by locals, the pub, first mentioned in 1721 started life as a coaching inn with a drinking trough for horses out front. It burnt down in a fire but was rebuilt in 1883 and sat on the route Northwards from London. Ventilation, beer, wine and dumbwaiters rise up through the building and out though vents that are made to look…

Boasting an auspicious location and carrying an aura of grandeur, villa Arthur is the modern-day equivalent of a nautical mansion of times past. The emotional feel of this home is one of authentic splendor and originality. The main gate of the house opens to a charming yard that leads to the ground floor, which is given entirely to the old-style but fully equipped kitchen and the spacious living and dining room areas. Whitewashed walls combine harmoniously with wooden floors and ceilings but the showstoppers here are the antique and carefully restored pieces of furniture and decorative elements that emanate a warm artisanal feel and are scattered throughout all living quarters. The mid level features the en-suite master and its adjacent en-suite twin bedroom, a small independent kitchen, an office and a living room with access to the outdoor yard. Two more bedrooms, a twin and single, can accommodate guests on…

Indyk Architects have designed all guest-rooms, apartments and hallways. On entry into the room, one is aware of the feature bathroom made up of sliding and fixed glass panels allowing an openness to the room itself. The panels glow soft, with feature glass lit cylinders reflecting off mirror sliding doors, within a moody ambiance of black- white veined marble walls. A glimpse through the bathroom opening reveals the rich velvet bedhead, be it mauve in the ‘grape and vine’ palette or golden ochre in the grey and gold palette, or one sees the cockatoos peering out from the black veneered and brass detailed, wallpapered bedheads. The concept behind the fitout is to create a ‘family’ of highly designed and diverse items with variations in colour palette and materials. The room sculptures…
