Post Architecture is a boutique architecture firm specializing in custom home design in downtown Toronto. They are known and respected for their sensitive integration of modern design and traditional contexts, applying innovation to create spaces for an exceptional lifestyle. They believe the spaces we inhabit, and also our lives, are blurring the distinction between our working, social and private selves – and design naturally needs to respond to this! You walk into that house and immediately see these huge high ceilings and this beautiful old cornicing that has been painted over so many times you can’t really decipher what it would have originally been, but it still looks wonderful. The floorboards, the marble fireplace, the view out onto the garden – all of that was there and amazing. The owner set about creating relaxed, neutral living spaces that would complement the existing period features perfectly. Located in the noble neighborhood of Jardins in São Paulo, this apartment by meireles pavan arquitetura had as its main concept the use of exclusive and rustic materials bringing a modern result and at the same time comfortable for owners and guests. In the entrance hall an art gallery was created where the main protagonist was the marble Ceppo di Gre, used for the first time in Brazil, both on the floor and on the ceiling, bringing a sensation to the visitor of entering in a “cave”. To compose, the pivoting doors are coated in natural banana straw. For the appreciation of the art works, were used easels by Lina Bo Bardi, the Italian Brazilian architect responsible for one of the most important projects in the city, MASP (São Paulo Art Museum). During the length of the apartment, there is a delicate wooden of dyed European oak lining to give prominence…
In this 60 year-old walk-up apartment in Singapore, ASOLIDPLAN Studio embraced the structural constraints of obstructive columns by wrapping a marble dining table around them, creating a social space on which the family life is a anchored. The clients are a young couple with a tasteful collection of furniture and objects who wanted to continue their tradition of regular family gatherings at home. The designers’ insertion of the dining table around the columns allows an articulated social space flanked by the kitchen on one side and the living room and balcony on the other. The private spaces are neatly tucked away into the corners, away from the main gathering space. Taking cues from the mid-century modernist design contemporaneous with the architecture of the apartment, designers wanted to explore how this design trend can still be applied to today’s requirements. They softened the very strong boxy shape of the apartment by…
Inspired by a refined masculine aesthetic, this condominium penthouse by U3I Studio is a statement in bold urban contemporary living. A lover of entertaining, our client desired a home that was a showpiece – one that articulated both elevated design and casual comfort. The arrival sets the tone with foyer walls wrapped in rich walnut, 12 ft. celling heights, and a view into the den and dramatic skyline beyond. A reinterpreted ‘man cave’, the den is layered in inspired denim blue and gray hues, while the principal bedroom is lighter, featuring warm wood paneling, leather upholstered headboard designed with integrated graphic art, and architectural cove lighting, setting a distinctive, calming mood. The large adjacent ensuite – exposed to the bedroom by glass – is enveloped in sumptuous marble and stone, providing the homeowner with a true spa experience. An elegant hall leads to the expansive living and dining open concept,…

Janicke and Erik wanted a home with many nuances. When they met, the starting position was a little calmer.- We had quite recently renovated each apartment, both painted in muted and “safe” trend colors. They were nice but similar to all other apartments for confusion, and we thought it was getting a little boring, says Janicke. When they moved together, they therefore quickly agreed to think new.- We really wanted our shared home to show who we were, and that we should not be afraid to make untraditional choices. A color expert was called in to get flow and harmony between the color tones. The result: A home full of energy that reflects the couple who live here. This custom estate home was designed for one of Reena Sotropa In House Design Group’s industry partners, Maillot Homes. The home is 8761 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. One of the most common questions designers have been asked about this home is if the house as 4 kitchens. The short answer would be “yes”, The long answer would be “no”, this home has one formal kitchen, one pantry kitchen, a butler’s kitchen and a bar kitchen! The formal kitchen in this home is extensively large, to put things in perspective the island itself is 16 feet long! Sometimes having so much space can actually be a design obstacle. The large footprint of this kitchen provided a constant challenge to bring the design back to a more personal scale. With such a large space designers knew that they needed to break up the millwork finishes. They chose to…
The Extruded House by MCK Architecture & Interiors Studio, is a bespoke design peculiar to the idiosyncrasies of the lives it seeks to provide shelter to. It is in it’s absolute modesty and simplicity that the Extruded House captures both the eye of the inhabitant and the design savvy public. It is prepared to celebrate the old with the new by unashamedly sitting them side by side and letting them be judged. It provides a contemporary line of thinking about what is a home, and various unique details challenge us to dare to be different. The solid bones of a federation-esq home have been retained and improved to provide a logical flow of circulation through the private parts of the home. Here spaces are provided to allow family members to find the quiet, or the solitude needed at the end of a busy day. Moving towards the rear of the…
This project was a full home renovation for a young family that purchased a “new-to-them” home in the early weeks of 2020. The home purchased was renovated to suit a style that didn’t match their aesthetic; that’s when they called Reena Sotropa In House Design Group to essentially re-renovate and furnish the entire house to make it feel more like it was theirs. Studio clients have an incredibly colourful and playful personal style that they wanted to reflect in the re-design of their own home. A saturated Kelly Green ceiling paired with bamboo trellis wallpaper in white and green makes for a bold first impression in the entry foyer. Rather than hanging traditional artwork, their clients owned a collection of beautiful kimonos and fans gathered from their travels and passed down from family that designers wanted to feature somewhere in their house. The hallway leading to their newly renovated home…
Studio 11:11’s clients approached them upon moving back to their native NZ, after having lived overseas for some time. They returned home during the covid pandemic and wanted to create a place that they could quickly settle into with their young family. Designers curated a selection of vintage and antique furnishings paired with more modern design classics for a slightly familiar feeling to the spaces. A natural, earthy and textural palette of finishes was used to give a sense of tranquility and comfort in their new home.
