Inis Meáin, the middle and most isolated of the Aran Islands, is home to 160 people – fishermen, poets and creative loners. Visitors here will be rewarded with peace and wide-open panoramic views. Ruairí de Blacam and his partner Marie-Thérèse have established an unusual form of B&B on Inis Meáin with the aim of enabling guests to best experience their island location of unique natural beauty : Inis Meáin Restaurant & Suites The hotel and restaurant are designed as a continuation of the landscape, shaped to resemble a small ship anchored on the shore. There is nothing superfluous in the rooms, but everything here is totally exclusive – such as the view from the 10 m panoramic window in each of the four suites. Every detail is inspired by the island and a way of living that is necessary in such a remote place exposed to all the elements. In…

Without color splashes and bright decor – the design of this monochrome Swedish apartment by Alvhem is based exclusively on shades of white and gray, only light wooden elements add easy warm touches. For some, such a space may seem boring and faceless, but there are also many people who find peace and tranquility in such a scheme. The layout of the apartment is quite open: the kitchen is combined with a living and a dining areas, the bedrooms also have a lot of space and light. Fully renovated, of 89 well-disposed square meters. Two large rooms , working tiled stove, south balcony and elevator. Stucco, roof rosettes, paired doors and generous ceiling height.  The classic Swedish base with stucco moldings and an old stove is, as always, gorgeous! Photography : Anders Bergstedt

Carola Vannini is the architect behind this wonderful apartment in the center of Rome. Her firm develops housing and commercial space designs that bring together different cultures, backgrounds and historical eras. The first criterion that guided this project was to open the space to the exterior and natural lighting. The ancient building structure has been emphasized by restoring the precious wooden ceilings. A sage green with very light touches of gold and silver have been selected to enlighten the decors. In the living room the double height of the space has been brought back to life and a cozy office space has taken place underneath the restored wooden beams. The master bedroom shares the ceiling with the master bathroom, from which is separated by a wall that doesn’t reach the ceiling and is framed by an iron and glass structure. This allows the view of the ceiling to be continuous and the light to freely…

I have been watching Ifigenia’s work for many years and I would say it is getting better and better with time. Ifigenia and her husband, Eutychis Andreadakis, decided in 2008 to change careers. After 20 years in the fashion industry, she as a stylist and fashion director in women’s magazines and Eutychis as a fashion photographer, they decided that they wanted to work on something new and more personal. Their shared leisure time with furniture transformation inspired them to set up a furniture renovation workshop in Lagonissi, near Athens and actually have the chance to make their hobby a profession, while giving our old furniture a second chance. They carry out all the work involved in refurbishing old furniture : they remove all old varnishes, maintain wood, specialize in many different finishes, experiment boldly with infinite colors and of course finish them with professional varnishes. Adding to all of the…

Exotic plants, colorful prints and retro notes – this year’s summer interior, according to IKEA, should be juicy and extraordinary. With its new spring collection, IKEA is embracing natural materials, fresh hues and rustic shapes and textures. The main inspiration is the tropics and bright colors. Four key trends they reckon are going to dominate the interior scene for spring : Rural Retreat, Citrus Shades , Vintage Havana and Refined Zen .
