40 Winks is based in hip and trendy East London. The house has a very glamorous history. For more than a decade, it was one of London’s most popular fashion and celebrity locations, playing host to hundreds of major advertising campaigns and high profile editorial shoots. So many photographers, stylists and models kept asking if they could stay there that they came up with the idea of ’40 Winks’. A whimsical mashup of decor that’s equal parts Jane Austen, Lewis Carroll, and Frida Kahlo, 40 Winks is a tiny boutique property in rapidly gentrifying East London that’s a flight of pure fancy. The three-pearl property has just two rooms, and their bath is shared. There’s also no in-room TVs. Despite its bijou size, it has achieved an almost mythical status since guests find much more entertainment in the elegant 18th-century interiors. Take a tour then!!!! Photography : Linnéa Hurtig

This is the second project by Tamsin Johnson Interior, an Interior design studio based in Sydney, Australia, founded in 2013 by founder Tamsin Johnson. The Studio operates globally, with projects in New York, Paris and London, reinventing existing spaces and creating new ones. Johnson’s interiors are a blend of classic pieces with obscure highlights and a focus on comfort, function, timelessness but most importantly the feel. She doesn’t want her clients friends or family to notice the stamp of an interior designer but rather her clients personality and warmth in a natural and uncontrived space. Enjoy it !!!! This typical Umbrian local stone exposed country house, positioned in the middle of an olive grove and surrounded by a vineyard, was built in May 2010 under Project Management of Specialumbria. The pool and garden boast wonderful views across stunning Umbrian countryside towards the towns of Panicale, Montepulciano and Lake Trasimeno. Tuscany is a mere stone’s throw away and this house would be the perfect spot from which to enjoy all the delights that both Tuscany and Umbria have to offer. The interior is done in a traditional, but light style, with a good mix between old wood and some modern elements which makes the house a comfortable place where you will immediately feel at home.  You can book this magnificent house here!!!! An historic 1935 Greek Revival cottage in the Clarksville neighborhood of Austin paired with a very creative family to provide the starting point for this project. Above and beyond the programatic goals the austinarchitect studio sought to create a home that honored the past while not being overly reverential. Some elements of the new construction, such as rebuilding the original roof 4′ above where it had been, are intended to look as thought they had always been there. Other elements of the new construction, such as the master bath wing and the dormers in front, are intentionally modern in their aesthetic. Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects approaches each project as a collaboration between the architect and client. Starting with the goals and dreams of the client, they like to structure the early design meetings as brainstorming sessions, where everyone is given a voice, and all suggestions are given, considered, and explored.…

A recent renovation of an underachieving ‘70’s-era ranch house is a testament to the magic that happens when an interior designer and a savvy client collaborate. For their seventh project –the Blanco River ranch house– Marcus Mohon served as both interior designer and architect. The native stone-clad clunker sat on a tributary that flows into the Blanco Ranch, with the river’s crystal waters and cypresses creating a parklike setting that’s the epitome of Hill Country bliss. “The house isn’t the jewel; the land is.” The top priority was to open the long and lean house to the view. Marcus replaced windows with steel sliding doors for easy indoor-outdoor access. Opening the sliding doors on either side of the house turns the main body of the house into one big breezeway, a nice return to an old-fashioned remedy for the Texas heat. They all use the property as a family retreat,…
